Hey, I’m Kristin!
My photography journey began using cameras as scientific tools and slowly grew into a creative passion. Initially, I used photography to study sea otter skull morphology and evolution within the mammalogy collection of the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture in Seattle, WA. Later, I used photography in the field to document and identify individual whales with NOAA’s Alaska Ecosystems Program working in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. It wasn’t until I began working as a whale watch naturalist and guide in Southern California that I started to use photography as a creative outlet. After 7 years in Southern California, I returned to Seattle Washington where I currently work as a naturalist and guide with Blue Kingdom Whale and Wildlife Tours out of Anacortes, Washington. You can currently find me chasing my toddler around the mountains of Issaquah, Washington or cruising through the Salish Sea in search of whales and wildlife.
My early years were spent scribbling notes on natural history topics. The wildlife guides and blog posts found here are as much of a reference for myself as they are for you to enjoy. Photography is a lifelong pursuit and I look forward to where the future will take me!
